Hotel Roku is a luxury boutique hotel located along the serene Kamo River in Kyoto. Named after the Japanese word for six, roku symbolizes the six layers of spatially activated planes that unfold as one moves through the hotel. The design blends contemporary exposed concrete aesthetics with elegant Japanese elements, creating a harmonious space integrating architecture, nature, and culture. Elevated decks and terraced gardens offer guests a peaceful retreat, framing breathtaking views of Kyoto and inviting moments of reflection and renewal.
Inspired from the principles of Tadao Ando and Kengo Kuma, the architecture of the hotel is designed to deliver a sense of harmony and peace to one’s soul with breathtaking landscape and luxurious amenities. The spatial planning and form development of the hotel is based on modularity that responds to the current site which opens up the possibility of introducing courtyard inspired from the traditional Japanese homes.
